I always make it a point to provide very thorough education about diagnoses and treatment to each patient. The more patients know, the better likelihood there will be compliance with treatment and more positive outcomes as well as improved communications with medical professionals.
Dr. McCoy is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the psychological and social effects of chronic medical illness. He is the founder of Maple Park Behavioral Medicine LLC, an independent private practice of psychologists, social workers, and counselors near Houston. He is also a research associate professor and director of psychogastroenterology research at The Edinburgh School of Medicine.
Dr. McCoy provides neurodevelopmental and neuropsychological evaluations and consultations for children and adolescents ages birth through early adulthood. He specializes in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning for children with developmental disorders including autism spectrum, delayed achievement in developmental milestones, intellectual and learning disabilities, medical complexities and ADHD; emotional difficulties such as depression, anxiety, and social difficulties; and other concerns related to education, learning and development.
Dr. McCoy is also a clinician in the Preschool and Infant Neuropsychological Testing (“PINT”) clinic. He provides psychoeducation and consultation services to a diverse range of clients and presenting problems.
Furthermore, in working with children and families, he acts as an advocate to ensure children are receiving necessary supports and provides caregivers with consultation and guidance in seeking out appropriate referrals and services. Dr. McCoy also runs a group for parents of young children newly diagnosed with ADHD.
